“If you enjoyed Soundcheck, Vocal Training is an excellent opportunity to get to know people in SPEAK better, take time out from our often busy lives and explore God’s vision for SPEAK as a Network. There’s time to hear and talk more about our campaigns and think about practical ideas to take back to our churches and groups. Last year’s was a very restful time. There was a natural rhythm to the weekend, also I enjoyed being able to pick blackberries and fruit and then eat them for pudding! I really enjoyed it and the weather was nice too!”

“Vocal Training ’09 was the first big SPEAK event I attended, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The format of the long weekend was great, with many thought provoking sessions on theology, campaigns, prayer and creativity. There was plenty of time between the sessions to discuss the issues raised more deeply and have fellowship over food and many cups of tea.
It gave me a deeper understanding of SPEAK’s campaigns and inspired me, along with others, to get the Durham group mobilised this academic year. It was a brilliant time for forming new friendships with SPEAKers from around the country and beyond. If you are thinking about going this year, I fully recommend it.”
- Tim Smith, Durham
“Vocal Training was really helpful in a number of ways, equally empowering as Soundcheck but in a different sense. It’s smaller and more down-to-earth, so it was easier to consider issues in more depth and there was more time to discuss ideas and problems. It was also easier to remember the names of the people I met!
It gave me a great deal of insight into the issues that SPEAK campaigns about and gave me really helpful suggestions for things to do with my local SPEAK group, as well as ways to improve my personal faith. I came away much refreshed, with renewed enthusiasm for campaigning and for my faith”
